Two-step verification adds a second check when you sign in: after your password, Google account, email link or SSO, Bizby asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.

There are two parts:

  • For your own account: anyone with a Bizby account can turn it on, on every plan: Free, Team, Team+ and Enterprise.
  • For guests on your organization’s boards: the enterprise owner can require it, so people from outside the organization must use a code before they open your boards.
  1. Click Profile in the header and open the Security tab
  2. Under Two-step verification, click Set up authenticator app
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or type in the key shown below it
  4. Enter the Six-digit code from the app and click Turn on

Before you can turn it on, Bizby asks you to verify your email address if you have not already, and to confirm it’s you by signing in again.

Once it is on, every way of signing in asks for a code from your authenticator app: password, Google, email link and SSO. Changing your password or deleting your account also asks for a code.

To turn it off, open Profile > Security and click Turn off under Two-step verification.

The enterprise owner controls how people outside the organization reach its boards, under Enterprise Settings > Security > External access:

SettingWhat it does
Allow guestsBoard owners and editors can invite people outside the organization by email. Turning this off also removes access for guests already invited.
Require two-step verification for guestsGuests must sign in with a code from an authenticator app to open your boards. Turning this on also turns share links off.
Allow share linksAnyone with a board’s share link can open it without an account. Turning this off stops existing links from working.

Changes apply to new connections within a minute. Only the enterprise owner can change these settings, and each change is recorded in the audit log.

Who it applies to:

  • Guests, meaning anyone outside the organization who opens one of its boards through an invitation, including guests who sign in with their own company’s SSO
  • Not your members: people in your organization sign in through your identity provider, which handles their multi-factor authentication

When a guest without two-step verification opens a board, or accepts an invitation, Bizby shows Two-step verification required and explains that the organization that owns the board requires it. The guest can set up an authenticator app right there, enter a code, and continue to the board.
